MPS Systems North America has announced the sale of a new EF fully automated flexographic press to sustainable packaging, labels and retail displays manufacturer Meyers.
This is the fourth machine that Meyers has purchased from MPS for use in its production facility.
The ten-colour, 530mm EF next-generation flexographic press has been designed to support web flexographic printing and is capable of round-the-clock data and feedback collection.
Meyers’ print manager Donald Patterson said: “With this fully automated MPS EF next-generation press equipped with a side load die station and Martin Automatic butt splicer, Meyers is adding a real ‘label monster’ to our production fleet.”
The installation of this machinery allows the associated company or operator to optimise production with the help of identifying potential bottlenecks while automatically recommending crucial areas of improvement.
This functionality of the press is based on its IoT capabilities.

By GlobalDataMeyers’ COO Dave McConnon said: “Our press operators find the MPS presses easy to set up and user-friendly.
“With the fully automated print stations, sophisticated job memory, and the unique and proven MPS Crisp Dot and patented E-Sleeve technologies, we go a step further as our operators can focus on what is really important: delivering the highest of print quality possible to our customers.
“The GEW AeroLED high-power UV LED system significantly reduces power consumption and Total Cost of Ownership. The AVT Helios 100% inspection system integrates quality control in the press.”
The partnership between Meyers and MPS was first established in 2008, when the Minneapolis-based print manufacturing company installed the first press provided by MPS.
Later in 2017, Meyers became the first printer in North America to buy an EF SYMJET hybrid press, which combines the MPS EF automated platform and Domino N610i seven-colour digital UV inkjet label press.
McConnon added: “In today’s challenging production environment with short leads times and more make-readies, press downtime is unacceptable.
“The MPS presses have proven to be durable and reliable over time with available and prompt service and support when needed.”
