Global packaging and paper manufacturer Mondi has introduced a fully sustainable packaging solution to keep perishable food fresh during transport from the store to the consumer.
Named BCoolBox, the corrugated packaging solution is complete with thermo-insulation that keeps food below 7°C for up to 24 hours without requiring cooling truck.

Additionally, the inner corrugated panels encircle the shipment from all sides for enhanced insulation. It can also use various cooling agents.
Mondi e-commerce product innovation manager Sofia Backstrom said: “We are proud to introduce a reliable solution that is proven to handle all the challenges that online food retailers face.
“After having tested various scenarios, we came up with a formula for the perfect composition.
“BCoolBox means cooling trucks are no longer needed to transport food and we can play our part in reducing food waste.”
The coronavirus pandemic boosted the online shopping market across the globe. This especially benefitted food retailers as consumers quickly switched to online platforms for buying groceries.
According to the company, BCoolBox will support online retailers in their efforts to expand their geographical delivery footprint.
Last week, Mondi developed new sustainable packaging for Norwegian branded consumer goods company Orkla for its new Frankful range of vegan, climate-smart taco products.
