Global packaging and paper group Mondi has launched two paper-based EverLiner release liners.
They have been created using recycled and lightweight materials.

The new products, namely EverLiner labelite and EverLiner M R, are claimed to provide a more sustainable solution for a range of applications.
These products have been created with FSC or PEFC certified paper to ensure responsible sourcing.
The new products are claimed to be lighter in weight and provide a sustainable solution for labels, tapes, envelopes and industrial usage.
Though featuring the same thickness of 58gsm glassine, EverLiner labelite is a lighter option compared with standard glassine for label applications given that it has been engineered to a reduced weight of 47gsm. As a result, 20% less raw material is being used to produce EverLiner labelite.

By GlobalDataEverLiner labelite’s mechanical and transparency properties can also be comparable with standard 58gsm glassine. Given its lightweight feature, it also enables optimised transportation.
The overall carbon footprint of the product has also been reduced as Mondi uses paper from an integrated production process with manufacturing and converting taking place in-house.
EverLiner M R is claimed to be the first release liner in the market using a recycled base paper. The amount of use of fresh fibres is reduced due to the use of machine-glazed paper (MG) that is 70% FSC recycled certified.
EverLiner M R is also FSC certified, thereby ensuring responsible sourcing.
Mondi was also able to significantly reduce CO2 emissions for its customer, marking the first cooperation with a European label producer.
Mondi R&D director for release liner Andrea Lackner said: “Our aim is to create sustainable alternatives with no need to change the silicone system in order to offer products that are effective in usage, work for our customers and ultimately help protect the environment.
