Morton Salt, a unit under the German-based agricultural chemical and salt company K+S Group, intends to shut down its packaging and warehousing operations at its Chicago facility in the US.
Expected to be completed by October, the cessation will put 23 jobs at risk.

Morton Salt will however continue to maintain its business presence at the site located at Elston Avenue.
The facility is used by the firm for packaging and storing ice melting salts and other bulk salts, which are produced for the commercial market.
Morton Salt CEO Christian Herrmann said: "The Morton Salt facility on Elston Avenue has an iconic presence in Chicago.
"That’s why we will explore all possibilities related to the future of the property and the infrastructure upon it. Our company was founded in Chicago and we are committed to the long, rich history we have here."

Morton Salt had signed a lease agreement for relocating its headquarters from Wacker Drive to the new River Point property in Chicago in June only.
The shifting decisions are in line with the firm’s recent brand revamping initiatives, which aim for business and cultural transformations.
