Premium portioned coffee provider Nespresso has pledged to make every cup of its coffee carbon neutral by 2022.
This commitment, which is part of the company’s broader sustainability ambitions, will deal with reducing carbon emissions across its supply chain and product life cycle.
Since 2017, the company has been able to achieve carbon neutrality in its business operations.
As part of the new ambition, Nespresso will indulge in initiatives such as increasing the use of 100% renewable energy in all its boutiques and biogas in production process.
The company will make use of recycled plastic in Nespresso machines, and recycled and low carbon virgin aluminum in coffee capsules.
In addition, it will plant trees in and around coffee farms where Nespresso sources its coffee; and through offsetting projects.
