US-based metal can manufacturer Crown Holdings intends to set up new production line at its Osmaniye plant in central-southern Turkey in an effort to increase its capacity for beverage can production.
The new line is expected to meet the rising demands for cans in Turkey and its neighbours, the existing market for the operational facility.

By GlobalDataMore than 2.6 billion units of cans were sold last year in Turkey alone, the firm said.
The new line has been scheduled to start operations in the first quarter of 2017 and is expected to add around 900 million two-piece aluminium beverage cans in multiple sizes to the facility’s existing annual production.
The Crown Holdings production facility currently has the capacity to generate 800 million beverage cans annually.
Crown Bevcan Europe and Middle East senior vice-president Peter Lockley said: "The plant is well-located to supply customers in both Turkey and neighbouring countries.
"The aluminium beverage can is an ideal container as it is easy to carry, chills quickly, and is 100% recyclable and sustainable. The Osmaniye plant has operated efficiently from the outset, and the addition of a second line was anticipated when the facility was planned."
Crown also maintains another beverage can facility in Izmit, Turkey, which produces a wide range of aluminium can sizes.
In February, the firm had announced a new facility development in Monterrey, Mexico, which will be used for beverage can production.
The proposed plant will have the capacity to produce two billion cans every year, be equipped to produce two-piece aluminium cans in multiple sizes and will be designed for further expansion.
