Chromatic Technologies (CTI) has launched ‘Tamper Alert’, a new heat-activated ink technology that will help to detect tamper evidence in labels and packaging for chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, electronics and other industry products.
The irreversible ink is expected to be used to identify theft and counterfeits.

CTI founder and CEO Lyle Small said: “For much of our 24-year-history, CTI has produced inks that change ‘back-and-forth’ based on temperature or sunlight.”
Small continued: “Now, we’ve perfected an ink that goes only one-way. It’s irreversible and it’s used to show a product that has been tampered with, or has undergone temperature changes that impact the product’s quality.”
Tamper Alert provides a tight activation window where the alert transitions occur gradually from colourless to full colour within a range of 10°C.
Regular irreversible technologies need a transition window between 30°C and 50°C, leading to weak colour activation and detection at lower temperatures.

By GlobalDataTamper Alert technology is made available in four target activation temperatures of 50°C, 60°C, 70°C, and 80°C.
The new Tamper Alert also features CTI’s ‘Turbo’ colour technology, which creates colour alerts in blue, green, black and red when the product is tampered with.
CTI produces thermochromic inks and environmentally reactive technology.
