A new Sumitomo injection moulding machine and custom-built Z Moulds carbonated soft drink cap at the lab-scale injection molding unit will help the company to produce commercial-grade closures.

Nova tests the cap made from the new molder at its newly renovated on-site lab using different in-use performance equipment, which helps both the company and its customers to evaluate the performance of the polyethylene closures under real-world conditions.

"The company claims that these investments will enable production of better-designed and better-performing products."

Nova Chemicals polyethylene business caps and closures market manager Alan Schrob said: "These investments help us improve polyethylene closure performance, develop new resins and facilitate the conversion to one-piece polyethylene closures.

"Broadly speaking, they are a key component of our strategy to deliver more value to our customers and the caps and closures market overall."
