In an effort to promote eco-friendly practices within the hospitality sector, Parkside Flexibles, a specialist in flexible packaging solutions, has partnered with artisanal tea brand Hoogly.
The packaging utilises a laminate that combines Parkside’s Park2Nature, a compostable material, with NatureFlex, a metallised compostable film sourced from Futamura.
Parkside said this blend offers excellent barrier properties, ensuring the freshness of Hoogly’s tea and preserving the distinct aromas of each variety.
The TÜV-certified envelopes are a significant step towards sustainability.
This certification signifies that the packaging has undergone rigorous testing and will biodegrade within 26 weeks in a home compost bin and within 12 weeks in an industrial composting facility.
This also aligns with Hoogly’s commitment to minimising the environmental impact of its products.

By GlobalData“Meeting the unique needs of each of our customers is our number one priority when taking on a packaging project,” stated Staci Bye, sales account manager at Parkside.
“We’re delighted that we were able to do that with this design, which meets the customer’s desire for a sustainably developed pack that still offers the barrier performance required to keep the teabags fresh.”
Initially, the envelopes will be available in three designs, each featuring a unique colour to differentiate the tea flavours: English Breakfast, Mint, and Green Tea.
Hotel guests across the UK can now experience these teabags wrapped in the new packaging at Pride of Britain’s portfolio of high-end hotels, boasting more than 50 locations nationwide.
“We take our ESG [environmental, social, and governance] commitments seriously, and ensure all our products are ethically sourced and fairly traded,” commented Paul Turner, director at Hoogly.
“The packs meet our high quality and performance standards, and we want to thank Parkside for their responsiveness and flexibility throughout this project.”
