US-based PPG has completed the expansion of its existing packaging coatings manufacturing capability at the company’s plant in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
As part of the $3m expansion, a new 3,300ft² facility has been added to produce food can coatings.
Certified by independent institutes, PPG’s new food can coatings are designed to help canmakers and brand-owners meet increasing food-contact regulatory requirements.
The food-contact compliant coatings also meet both the North American and European regulatory requirements.
PPG’s new facility at the Oak Creek site will enable the company to produce specialised solutions to meet new food-contact requirements and market demands.
PPG packaging coatings vice-president Ken West said: “This expansion significantly increases our packaging coatings manufacturing capability in the US, enabling us to meet growing demand for our industry-leading food-can coatings.
