US-based thermal packaging company Packaging Technology Group (PTG) has opened a manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 73,000ft² facility is the third to be opened by the company in the last 18 months.

It is intended to help PTG expand its product portfolio and enhance its customer experience.

Production at the facility began late last month, with 17 employees joining the company at the same time.

PTG CEO Bill Blezard said: “This is our third new location in 18 months and reinforces our commitment to partners and clients.

“One of our core values is relationships, and we are excited to build new connections in the Fort Worth area, create jobs and triple our production capabilities.”

The facility produces and ships PTG’s TRUEtemp Naturals product line, which offers thermo-efficient and environmentally sustainable solutions for pharmaceutical companies.

TRUEtemp Naturals products are made with insulating fibre to thermally protect high-value medicines, biologics and vaccines. The insulating fibre can be fully recycled at the kerbside.

Based in Fall River, Massachusetts, PTG supplies sustainable, thermal shipping and packaging solutions for biopharmaceutical and life sciences companies.

The company is committed to sustainability for its TRUEtemp Naturals line and reusable TRUEtemp Last Mile shippers.

The TRUEtemp Last Mile shippers are designed for the liquid biopsy and cancer diagnostic markets. They are made using a combination of phase-change material (PCM) and polyurethane.

PTG chief operating officer Thomas Lawlor said: “As the demand for eco-friendly products rises, we continue to innovate and create solutions and services for the life sciences industry.

“This new multi-purpose facility offers PTG redundant manufacturing capabilities while substantially increasing our capacity for producing innovative products.”

In March, PTG announced it was adding fully recyclable and repulpable products to its TRUEtemp Naturals Line.

Last January, the company opened a manufacturing facility in Louisville, Kentucky.
