Reifenhäuser Group has acquired Plamex Maschinenbau, a German supplier of high-quality water quench and multi-bubble blown film lines.

Plamex specialises in delivering blown film lines for water-cooled and biaxially oriented films used in medical and food packaging industry.

The acquisition bolsters Reifenhäuser Groups’ product portfolio with the inclusion of the technology to produce flexible films.

The acquired company will continue to operate as Reifenhäuser Blown Film Plamex. Maximilian Herchenbach and Manfred Kurscheid will serve as the managing directors of the company.

Kurscheid said: “Water-cooled blown film extrusion lines for medical applications such as infusion bags and biaxially oriented multi-layer films have not been in the scope of the Reifenhäuser group yet.

“Now we can offer water-quench, double and multi-bubble technologies, with which we can address new customer groups and thus continue our growth path.”

The transaction will benefit Plamex with technological synergies and enable it to leverage the global network of the Reifenhäuser Group.

Reifenhäuser Blown Film Plamex currently has a staff of 40 and is based in Troisdorf-Bergheim, Germany.

With a workforce of more than 1,500 employees, the Reifenhäuser Group focuses on the development of technologies and components for plastics extrusion.

The company enables its clients to make blown / cast films, sheets and various components for the plastic extrusion industry.
