An affiliate of Harwal Group known as the Riyadh Plastic Factory Company (RPF) has signed a contract for the supply of a BOBST 20SIX CI flexo press in order to extend its capacities for the production of flexible packaging.

The flexo press was first adopted by another Harwal Group member, Interplast, in 2014.

The newly requested unit is identical to the first order and features ten colours and a print width of 1,450mm.

It also has a printing speed up to 500m/min and maximum repeat of 1,200mm, allowing it to address the demands of a wide range of applications.

“Ever since the first BOBST 20SIX was installed, it has performed to our full satisfaction, both in terms of print quality and productivity.”

Harwal Group packaging materials division executive director Mike Koroukian said: “Ever since the first BOBST 20SIX was installed, it has performed to our full satisfaction, both in terms of print quality and productivity.

“When we decided to invest in a new machine to boost our capacities, the decision in favour of BOBST was an easy one.”

Both presses feature a smartGPS off-press set-up system and can be used to print films (LDPE, BOPP, CPP, PET), foil, laminates, shrink sleeves, PVC twist wraps, metallised twist wraps and wax paper.

The machines are also able to print wrap around labels, gift wraps, shopping bags and flower wraps.

The system reduces the job change overtime and amount of waste during set-up to almost zero.

Additionally, the smartGPS feature serves as a quality-control instrument for hardware printing and plate mounting applications.
