Global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company Royal DSM is planning to construct new polymerisation plants in Augusta, Georgia, which will produce high-viscous polymer for film grades.
To be operated under DSM’s engineering plastics business group, the plant will manufacture high-viscous Akulon polyamide 6 polymer for film grades used in flexible food packaging and other segments.
Construction on the plant is scheduled to begin in Q1 2015, with planned completion in mid-2016.
Upon completion, the new plant will become DSM’s first polymerisation plant for high-viscosity grades in North America for Akulon polyamide 6.
DSM engineering plastics Americas president Richard Pieters said: "The Augusta location will offer all logistic modalities to our customers in the Americas and leverage the scale of our existing polymer operations.
"We are grateful for the support from the Georgia authorities."
