South African packaging and speciality paper manufacturer Sappi has entered a strategic partnership with Rovema, a packaging machine manufacturer based in Germany.
The collaboration will focus on providing packaging solutions that are both reliable and sustainable for customers.
In a statement, Sappi said that sustainable or environmentally friendly packaging is not just about the use of materials for packaging but involves collaboration between products, paper and machines.
The company said: “Since 2018, Sappi and Rovema have been collaborating as partners in the development of integrated packaging solutions as a complete package for forward-looking customers who wish to position themselves sustainably on the market.
“So far, these projects have yielded extremely positive results thanks to in-depth knowledge transfer between the paper manufacturer and the machine manufacturer.”
As part of the partnership, the companies will hold discussions about their cooperation in the field of functional paper packaging.
