Swiss packaging equipment manufacturer Sidel has unveiled a new blowing solution for PET bottles, which will heat the mould for the bottles via electrical heat-resistance (eHR).
Launched as Sidel Matrix blower eHR, the new solution has the capacity to create a temperature increase three times quicker than traditional heating by oil, replacing the use of hot oil for moulding.
The new technology can minimise temperature discrepancies, offering the same thermal conditioning for all produced bottles.
This can lead to production of identical bottles for the supermarket shelf and the consumers.
It is equipped with the latest generation blowing valve, mechanical blow nozzle system, electrical stretching and automation, which can deliver high control of the blowing curve.
This can lead to an additional production of up to 2,000 bottles an hour for each mould, which accounts for a speed improvement of more than 10% compared with the previous generation of Sidel HR blowers.
Replacement of oil usage with electrical stretching removes the risk of contamination and leakages as lubrication above the neck of the bottle can be avoided.
Sidel blowing product management director Damien Fournier said: "Sidel has been a central player in the hotfill segment of the beverages market ever since the introduction of the blow-moulding HR PET process in 1986, and Sidel Matrix eHR provides unique operational benefits to beverage producers."
