Niche Cocoa Industry has opted for Sidel’s Predis aseptic dry sterilisation line technology to reportedly produce Ghana’s first locally produced and aseptically bottled chocolate milk.

The 16,000 bottles per hour aseptic PET line integrates Tetra Pak processing systems technologies and the Sidel Aseptic Combi Predis with dry preform and cap sterilisation systems, a sleeve labeller, a shrink-wrapping system and a stretch wrapper.

Sidel also supplied its efficiency improvement tool data acquisition and plant intelligence system. This aims to help its beverage company customers by decreasing unplanned downtime, reducing waste and costs and increasing factory output.

Sidel vice-president of sales for Middle East and Africa Bassam Oussaifi commented: “We are delighted that this project is helping our customer move a further step towards its vision of becoming Africa’s leading producer of cocoa products.”

Niche Cocoa Industry’s CEO Edmund A. Poku added: “Aseptic liquid dairy products are complex to produce, and this was a new area for us. Sidel’s technical experts and dedicated local sales and project management teams partnered with us to share knowledge and provide guidance.”

Niche Cocoa Industry was founded in 2011 and manufactures semi-finished cocoa products for export, such as cocoa liquor, butter, cake and powder.

With the installation, Sidel aims to continue its expansion of operations in Africa, with the opening of a new regional office in Nairobi, Kenya, to serve customers across East Africa in 2022.

At Interpack in May 2023, Sidel will exhibit its new packing infeed module for shaped containers, Cermex Proselex.
