Swiss packaging company SIG has announced the launch of a new small-size, on-the-go carton bottle – SIG DomeMini.
The carton bottle, according to SIG, has been designed to provide the convenience of a plastic bottle along with the sustainability benefits of a regular carton pack.
The company said that the bottle will first be rolled out for the Chinese market, with plans to expand it to other countries in future.
SIG DomeMini can be recycled and is made using a high share of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paperboard.
SIG said that the manufacturing process of this resource-efficient carton bottle also uses 100% renewable electricity.
The new SIG DomeMini has a space-saving design and multiple ergonomic benefits that are especially helpful for travellers and commuters.

SIG DomeMini offers various environmental benefits compared with traditional packaging alternatives such as plastic bottles.
SIG chief markets officer Christoph Wegener said: “By combining convenience with sustainability, SIG DomeMini sets stage and offers a new drinking experience for consumers, who can now enjoy their favourite drink on the move while helping to reduce plastic waste.”
Through the new carton pack, the company said it intends to encourage consumers to rethink their packaging choices in terms of sustainability.
In addition, SIG is targeting beverage manufacturers to opt for a packaging alternative that can significantly minimise their plastic use and circulation in the market, while serving the increasing trend of ‘paperisation’.
Wegener added: “We can now offer food and beverage companies a bottle-shaped carton product family for on-the-go and at-home occasion that does not compromise on convenience and delivers superior sustainability performance.
“The eye-catching design of SIG Dome family really stands out on shelf too, clearly differentiating it from other packaging types.”
Recently, SIG announced a collaboration with AnaBio Technologies for the production of new aseptic packaging for a long-life probiotic yogurt.
