By GlobalDataThe additional unit is located near the company’s existing Telford site.
Sirane MD Simon Balderson said: “This is big news for us, as it will allow us to significantly expand our Telford operation, and give us the room to install new machinery, and to keep ahead of growing demand.
“Part of the expansion will include a state-of-the-art water-based print press, which should be installed in the unit with a couple of weeks.
“Not only will this allow us to bring much of our printing in house, but it will also mean we can offer a truly environmentally-friendly print service.”
The press will use only water-based printing with no solvents disposed of nor harmful emissions released after printing. The technology is claimed to be the first of its kind used in the UK.
The expansion is in response to the growth in the company’s food packaging and medical & healthcare divisions, especially for eco-friendly packaging films and medical specimen transportation range.
It will take the total manufacturing space in Telford to around 140,000ft2.
Earlier this year, Sirane acquired Olympic Packaging that has been renamed as Sirane Stroud
Based in Telford, Sirane manufactures absorbent materials, bags, pouches & films and board products.
