Solegear Bioplastic Technologies and retail packaging supplier r-pac International have collaborated to deliver smartphone case packaging for an undisclosed US-based consumer electronics retailer.
Under the terms of the deal, the firms will jointly supply around 750,000 units for the US retailer’s recent phone release.
Delivery of the units is expected to start from the first quarter of 2016.
Solegear CEO Paul Antoniadis said: "Solegear’s product development team has worked diligently with r-pac to develop and refine our TF4000 bioplastic to ensure it would meet retailers’ quality expectations to withstand the impact of demanding transportation and in-store environments.

Solegear manufactures Traverse TF4000, which is a USDA BioPreferred packaging material developed from independently verified plant-based content and features enhanced thermal properties.

The material is suitable to be processed in standard thermoforming equipment and contains no BPAs, phthalates or other hazardous chemicals.
