US-based diversified consumer packaging provider Sonoco has added a recyclable polyethene flexible packaging EnviroFlex PE to its EnviroSense portfolio.

EnviroFlex PE can be used for various retail product applications such as cookies and crackers, confectioneries, dry or dehydrated foods, sweet and savoury snacks and more.

The packaging carries the How2Recycle store drop-off label that alerts consumers it can be recycled along with grocery bags or dropped off at local retail outlets.

Sonoco global consumer packaging, display & packaging and protective solutions senior vice-president Rodger Fuller said: “We are very pleased to introduce EnviroFlex PE as the latest addition to our diverse portfolio of EnviroSense packaging options.

“EnviroFlex PE is another step toward meeting the demand for sustainable flexible packaging that’s easy-to-recycle.”

EnviroFlex PE laminates are suitable for operations on both vertical and horizontal form fill and seal machines.

EnviroFlex PE also complies with Federal Trade Commission (FTS) regulations and the EnviroSense standard for packaging optimisation.

The company announced the development of a new sustainable packaging initiative EnviroSense earlier this month.

In a statement, Sonoco said: “Recognising the critical importance of protecting our planet for future generations, EnviroSense represents Sonoco’s guiding philosophy behind a new portfolio of packaging solutions designed to meet a rigorous set of sustainability criteria.”
