US-based flexible packaging manufacturer Specialty Packaging Technologies (SPT) has purchased a new KSPQ hybrid pouching machine from Karlville Development.
The new pouching machine complements the company’s existing full platform 600mm KSP and KSG machines and is more versatile and economical with quicker changeovers. It produces pouches in various formats, enabling the company to handle a larger marketplace.
The pouch production equipment has a 450mm web width and one web / one film configuration. It runs at 225 cycles a minute.
Karlville Development pouching commercial division director Jim Pease said that the KSPQ provides the smallest footprint for a compact multi-functional pouch machine in the industry.
"We are pleased that SPT is the first company to purchase this machine and look forward to assisting them become a major player," Pease added.
SPT president Tony Cherot said: "The KSPQ is a very high performance machine with considerable economic benefits by offering reduced scrap rates, efficient changeover times, and boosting run rates which ultimately increases production capacity."
