Pulp and paper manufacturer Stora Enso has updated and expanded its packaging paper portfolio with the introduction of new fibre-based food-safe papers.
The company launched uncoated papers LumiPack and LumiWrap designed to package foodstuffs.

Complying with strict food safety regulations, the two 100% certified papers serve as a sustainable alternative to plastics and other materials.
Both of these papers offer production efficiency and high runnability. They help reduce transportation costs and create environmental benefits.
LumiWrap is developed entirely from virgin fibre sourced from Nordic forests and used to pack dry, moist and fatty foods.
LumiPack is a white strong packaging paper that is lighter than cartons and liners. It features improved mechanical properties and can be used for various applications, including as a pouch for small items instead of plastic or as a multi-layer food carton.
Stora Enso business and product development manager Teija Kärkkäinen was quoted as saying: “At Stora Enso we’ve been working to expand our paper portfolio to find products that best fit customers’ needs as we move toward a plastic-free future.”
In addition to the fibre-based papers, the company has updated the one side coated (C1S) portfolio.
In October, Stora Enso partnered with wholesale company Tingstad to market its new food service take-away bowls named as PureFiber.
