SÜDPACK’s Multipeel system is revolutionising the packaging industry for sliced cheese and cold meats.
Known for its superior performance and sustainability, Multipeel offers a practical solution that prevents products from drying out while ensuring a convenient, reclosable experience for consumers.
Unlike traditional reclose systems such as snap-on lids and reclosable labels, SÜDPACK said Multipeel boasts a more efficient and sustainable design.
By integrating a reclose function directly into the lidding film, Multipeel reduces material waste and improves line performance.
“Our system is definitely superior to other technical solutions in terms of material efficiency, costs and line performance,” said Valeska Haux, vice-president of Strategic Marketing & Sustainability at SÜDPACK.
“Snap-on lids are considered less sustainable due to the substantial material requirements for the heavy lid solution. And while reclosable labels weigh less, they are economically less attractive. Line performance in the packaging process is also significantly restricted.”

By GlobalDataBeyond its technical advantages, Multipeel also delivers exceptional product protection.
The system significantly reduces moisture loss in sliced cheese and cold meats, ensuring that products remain fresh and appetising until the very last slice.
This not only enhances consumer satisfaction but also helps to minimise food waste.
SÜDPACK’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond the Multipeel system itself.
The company offers a range of recyclable packaging solutions, including polypropylene-based structures that can be recycled at high rates.
“In the future, the focus on reducing food waste will only continue to increase among end consumers. At the same time, legislators are setting the course for reduced food waste, and are doing so worldwide,” added Haux.
“Apart from that, the sharp increase in food prices have also led to more mindful behaviour. That is why packaging with reclose systems will remain indispensable in the foreseeable future from both an environmental and ecological point of view.”
As consumers become increasingly conscious of food waste and environmental impact, reclose systems such as Multipeel will play a crucial role in shaping the future of packaging.
