Japan-based beverage company Suntory has teamed up with Anellotech for setting up a facility in Texas, US, where a component used in making 100% bio-based PET bottles will be produced and tested.

The new plant is in line with the Japanese beverage maker’s plans to pack its products under Suntory Beverage & Food’s Suntory Tennensui brand in 100% bio-based PET bottles.

The facility has already been developed and is expected to be commissioned this year.

"The facility has already been developed and is expected to be commissioned this year."

Installations at the plant are expected to start by the end of this month, Suntory said.

The firm aims to manufacture PET bottles with minimal environmental impact and is likely to unveil lightest PET bottles using 30% bio-based materials for its Tennensui 550ml mineral water bottles.

Anellotech and Suntory partnership is expected to help the latter in achieving its target for implementing and developing eco-friendly products.

Anellotech is an US-based green innovation and technology company that develops bio-aromatics including bio-paraxylene, an important component required to make bio-based PET bottle.
