Information technology firm Syntel has signed a deal with Esko, a Belgium-based provider of prepress software and hardware for labelling and packaging, in a bid to strengthen its existing portfolio of labelling and packaging solutions for the medical devices and pharmaceutical industries.
Esko’s products manage labelling, packaging design and print processes, and the agreement seeks to integrate them into Syntel’s existing suite.

Syntel will have access to Esko’s training and support, as well as its software products, which will be incorporated into Syntel’s existing portfolio.
The two companies are planning to collaborate on implementations across the US and Europe.
Syntel vice-president and Life Sciences business unit head Narendar Reddy said: “Today’s medical devices and pharma companies must handle complex and varied international labelling standards and packaging requirements.
“Our solutions are delivered in a unique, automation-driven managed or shared services model that enables clients to respond to a fast-changing marketplace and stay compliant at all times with the highest possible quality.”

These regulations require manufacturers to incorporate large-scale changes to the way they create and change their products’ labels and packages.

Syntel aims to reduce waste, eliminate product recalls, as well as delivering products to the market faster by adopting an automated labelling and packaging as a service solution.
