Canadian flexible packaging supplier TC Transcontinental has acquired US-based firm Multifilm Packaging for an undisclosed price.
Based in Elgin, near Chicago, Illinois, Multifilm Packaging operates for chocolate packaging verticals in North America and specialises in piece-wraps and high-barrier laminates for the confectionery, snacks and dry foods markets.
With the acquisition of Multifilm, TC Transcontinental intends to expand its manufacturing capabilities in aluminium foil printing, as well as demetallisation, and use these abilities within its North American packaging platform.
Multifilm Packaging president Chris Rogers said: “We are truly proud to join TC Transcontinental, a large corporation with a 42-year history and track record of success.”
TC Transcontinental president and chief executive officer François Olivier added: “The acquisition of Multifilm Packaging Corporation is aligned with our growth strategy for the packaging division and presents tremendous opportunities.
“This transaction allows us to enter new high-end confectionery packaging niches and to bolster our offering in this market.”
