Bowls

UK-based food packaging company Tri-Star Packaging has developed a new eco-friendly oval bowl that can be used to hold hot and cold food.

The new Oval Eco Street Bowl, which is made from a fully compostable unbleached bagasse, is easier to hold while eating compared to the usual round and square containers.

Available in 620ml and 770ml sizes, the container is said to be ideal for street food traders and caterers who serve food-to-go options such as curries, noodles, pasta, burritos and salads.

"Our new Oval Eco Street Bowl addresses the simple ergonomics of eating."

Tri-Star Packaging managing director Kevin Curran said: "Our new Oval Eco Street Bowl addresses the simple ergonomics of eating.

"It fits comfortably and feels more secure, enhancing the all-round eating experience for the customer and adds a real point of difference for food-to-go businesses."

According to the company, the bowl is made from natural renewable resources, fits well into a standard-sized paper takeaway bag and can be easily transported by the customer.

An optional ultra-clear rPET lid of the Oval Eco Street Bowl is made from recycled and recyclable materials.

In a bid to improve branding, the lid can also be embossed with a logo, the company said.

As the lid clips on securely to keep food well preserved, leakages can be eliminated in addition to ensuring that there is no flavour transfer between products that are stored nearby.

The freezer-safe and oil-resistant bowl is microwave and oven safe, without the lid.
