Packaging and closures specialist Tri-sure is set to exhibit its closed-loop caps for steel and plastic containers called ‘EcoBalance’ at this year’s Interpack trade fair in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The EcoBalance all-plastic caps are reportedly made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin from recycled containers and are designed to protect the closure system from dirt, contamination, and the theft or substitution of a drum’s contents.

The closures come in two varieties: the SambaCap for steel drums and the Push-Lock cap for fibre and plastic drums.

The product aims to expand the company’s portfolio of sustainable packaging and accessories and reduce carbon emissions by up to 45% compared to standard plastic caps.

Tri-Sure is a subsidiary of the American packaging manufacturing company Greif.

Greif global product development manager of closures Dale Taylor explained: “EcoBalance caps support sustainability goals of reducing carbon emissions, minimising energy consumption and diverting waste from landfills.

“The caps signify our commitment to making sustainable improvements across our product lines that support a closed-loop system for recycling material and reducing waste, whilst maintaining the high levels of quality our customers expect.”

Earlier this month, Greif acquired a majority ownership of Centurion Container for $145m to expand the company’s presence in North America.
