Global packaging firm TricorBraun has purchased independent US-based distributor of flexible packaging solutions Pacific Bag.

Pacific Bag was founded in 1986 and offers flexible coffee, pet and speciality food packaging services to more than 4,500 customers in 50 countries.

The transaction marks the sixth for the company in the last 18 months. Other acquisitions include Salbro Bottle in June 2017, Continental Packaging Associates, Taipak, Package All, and the remaining shares of its joint venture in Mexico.

TricorBraun president and CEO Court Carruthers said: “This is an important day for TricorBraun and a natural step in our evolution as we build the global packaging leader.

“The acquisition of Pacific Bag further bolsters our presence in the flexibles space, building on our highly successful acquisition of Taipak. We are excited to welcome Pacific Bag to the TricorBraun family.”

TricorBraun will merge the acquired firm with its existing flexible packaging division Taipak to create TricorBraun Flex.

“The acquisition of Pacific Bag further bolsters our presence in the flexibles space, building on our highly successful acquisition of Taipak.”

The new division will focus on flexible packaging operations by operating from existing locations in Vancouver, Seattle, Calgary, Toronto, and Philadelphia.

TricorBraun will also retain Pacific Bag CEO Mark Howley and its executive team with the company.

Howley said: “Pacific Bag is excited to join forces with TricorBraun. Our business has grown over the years to help customers all over the world, and by joining TricorBraun, we are confident the combined business will become a stronger supplier.

“Our product line will expand and our ability to meet the demands of the market will dramatically improve.”
