UK firm Robinson Packaging has developed a new solution for chilled cheesecakes for an undisclosed fresh prepared food manufacturer.
The contract to create a bespoke packaging solution was received from the food manufacturer, which is engaged in the chilled desserts retail market, making products ranging from cheesecakes to cream cakes.
Under the contract, Robinson was asked to create a new design that prevents consumers damaging the cake when removing it from the packaging.
The products are usually packed in thermoformed trays wherein the consumer needs to push the cheesecake up and out of the base of the pack.
If caution is not exercised, there are chances for the dessert to crack while removing from the trays.
The new pack developed by Robinson that enables customers to unwrap a tear strip at the front of the cheesecake without breaking the product.
