UNI UK has acquired flexible packaging company Arteb Printing to strengthen its manufacturing capability in the UK market.

Arteb occupies a 10,000ft² site in St Helens, Merseyside. Its range of services includes gearless flexographic printing in up to eight colours, lamination, patterned cold seal, perforation and slitting operations.

UNI Packaging plans to install a new pouch manufacturing facility at the site.

Rod Entwistle of UNI UK said that with the company’s growing market share in the country and the resources it has across the group, it can operate on a different level to other flexible packaging companies.

"The acquisition of Arteb represents a step-change for our customers, allowing them to benefit from the assurance of a UK manufacturing capability and the advantages that brings, such as faster lead times," Entwistle added.

The acquisition is also expected to provide the group with additional capacity at a time of ongoing expansion.

UNI Packaging provides a range of flexible packaging solutions including gravure, flexographic and digital printing, vacuum pouch and standup pouch manufacture, lamination, laser scoring, co-extrusion and logistics from its six production sites located across France. With a turnover of more than €104m, the company employs over 300 people in sites and offices across 15 countries.
