China-based YFY Paper has successfully commenced operation of PM 3, new paper-making equipment installed in its factory in Yangzhou, China.
Supplied by Voith Paper, the equipment has a production capacity of 450,000t of packaging paper a year, with an annual turnover of €145m.

Equipped with energy efficient technology, the PM 3 is expected to reduce operating costs for YFY Paper, cutting power and water consumption by 20% and 12% respectively compared to traditional paper-making equipment.
The PM 3 is also the first food packaging machine in China to use 100% domestically recovered paper as a raw material and produces new paper that doesn’t contain any virgin wood pulp.
Voith Paper Asia Pacific president and CEO Ming Ming Liu said that the packaging paper-making equipment has a great deal of untapped potential in china.

Voith also delivered two R2S anaerobic reactors to YFY Paper that are applicable for both the PM 2 and PM 3. The reactors convert dissolved organic contaminants into biogas with a high calorific value, that can then be used to produce steam or electricity to continue contributing to the manufacturing process.
The installation of the PM 3 is part of YFY Paper’s plan to develop a sustainable papermaking industrial park at a total cost of approximately €1.2bn.
