France-based dairy brand Yoplait has launched a new line of yoghurts, Yoplait en Brique, packaged in Elopak’s fibre-based sustainable Pure-Pak eSense cartons.
This move is a direct response to the growing demand from French consumers for products that are packaged sustainably.
Yoplait’s transition to fibre-based packaging marks a step towards sustainability in the ultra-fresh sector.
The Pure-Pak eSense carton with tethered caps was chosen by Yoplait for its eco-friendly properties, and by being composed of 78% renewable materials and weighing 750g, it is equivalent to six traditional yoghurt cups.
This packaging choice results in a 50% reduction in packaging material when compared to the standard six-pack of Yoplait yoghurt cups, each weighing 125g.
Elopak France’s Guillaume Calmels said: “The Pure-Pak eSense carton uses 50% less packaging than six 125g tubs of Yoplait yoghurt, addressing rising concerns over packaging waste.

By GlobalData“And for convenience at home, one carton takes up less space in the fridge compared to the plastic pot pack format and is easy to grab and completely resealable.”
According to Elopak, the design of its Pure-Pak eSense carton features easy-folding lines that allow for the complete extraction of the yoghurt, thereby minimising food waste.
In addition, the inclusion of tethered caps ensures that the caps do not contribute to litter and that the packaging can be resealed, maintaining the freshness of the product.
Yoplait International Business Unit and marketing director Myriam Riedel-Kienzi said: “Before launching Yoplait en Brique, we conducted a lot of studies to understand whether consumers were ready to adopt the use of the carton.
“What makes us extremely confident is that before trying the product, six out of ten consumers told us that they are ready to buy it; when after trying the product at home, 86% say they really want to buy it.”
In June 2023, German company Luoro partnered with Elopak to provide carton packaging for its oral hygiene brand Paperdent.
