The company has also integrated a new production line inside its Amcor Flexibles Alzira plant in Spain.

Global responsible packaging solutions provider Amcor has expanded its paper packaging range ‘AmFiber’ in the European market.

The paper packaging range will now include heat seal sachets that can be used for dry culinary and beverage products such as dried soups, spices, seasonings, drink powders and instant coffee.

Launched in January last year, AmFiber is a recyclable and high-barrier packaging solution.

This range of products was specifically designed to offer high-barrier protection from oxygen and moisture, making it suitable for perishable foods.

AmFiber Global Product Management vice-president Ilya Syshchikov said: “AmFiber Performance Paper offers brands the best of both worlds.

“From a technical point of view, it delivers high-barrier and excellent machinability. From an environmental point of view, it’s PVDC [polyvinylidene chloride]-free, available in FSC [Forest Stewardship Council]-certified paper, and recyclable in most European countries.

“In fact, independent recycling tests conducted by organisations such as Aticelca and PTS, have demonstrated an impressive material recovery rate during the recycling process.”

Apart from the expansion of its AmFiber range, the company has made additional investments to integrate a new production line in its Amcor Flexibles Alzira plant in Valencia, Spain.

This move is expected to boost the existing manufacturing capabilities of Amcor, allowing it to address the increasing demand for paper packaging across the globe.

The manufacturing line is capable of providing both cold and heat seal AmFiber packaging, which offers airtight seals to ensure that the product remains intact throughout the supply chain, as well as in its full shelf life.

The installation of this production line and advanced equipment has further positioned the Alzira plant as one of Amcor’s 'Centers of Excellence' that help support the flexible paper-based packaging industry.

Syshchikov added: “We have many exciting projects in our R&D pipeline for paper, and this expansion into culinary and beverage packaging is another important milestone toward developing recyclable paper packaging for all the segments we serve.”
