Amcor, a leading manufacturer of responsible packaging solutions, has secured eight awards at this year's Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) annual meeting.

The awards recognise Amcor's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the packaging industry.

This year's FPA Achievement Awards saw a record-breaking 333 entries, with only 22 receiving recognition. Amcor's eight winning entries impressed the judges with their range of applications and focus on sustainability.

Sustainability takes centre stage

Amcor's McCoy Dunnage Free IBC Liners for bulk aseptic products stood out, winning three awards - Gold for Sustainability, Silver for Expanding the Use of Flexible Packaging, and Silver for Technical Innovation.

The company said this 330-gallon bulk liner offers a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative for aseptic packaging.

The liner's design reduces waste by eliminating the need for secondary packaging materials such as foam and cardboard. Additionally, its lightweight construction translates to a smaller carbon footprint throughout its life cycle.

Another sustainable packaging solution from Amcor was the Tyson Foods Foam Tray Replacement with Forming/Non-forming Film, which earned a Silver Award for Sustainability.

This film replaces traditional expanded polystyrene trays commonly used for fresh poultry packaging.

Amcor's commitment to sustainability extends to the healthcare sector, with its HealthCare AmSky Blister System also receiving a Silver Award for Sustainability.

This polyvinyl chloride-free and aluminium-free thermoformed solution offers a more eco-friendly alternative for packaging medication and dietary supplements.

Innovation beyond sustainability

Amcor's creativity was not limited to sustainable solutions.

The company's Dual Function Frozen Yogurt Package, developed in collaboration with Gualapack Brasil, secured three awards - Gold for Technical Innovation, Silver for Expanding the Use of Flexible Packaging, and Silver for Packaging Excellence.

This yoghurt pouch caters to consumer convenience by offering two usage options. Consumers can refrigerate and use the spout for yoghurt or freeze the pouch and use a laser perforation at the bottom to enjoy a frozen treat.

Amcor's impressive performance at the FPA awards highlights the company's leadership in developing innovative and sustainable packaging solutions across various industries.
