The solution features high moisture vapour transmission rate and oxygen transmission rate barriers.

Flexible packaging solutions provider American Packaging Corporation (APC) has unveiled its high-performance, sustainable, recycle-ready paper packaging.

The new packaging technology is the latest addition to APC’s RE sustainable packaging portfolio.

Designed for kerbside recyclability, the technology offers increased product protection levels, enhancing shelf life, flavour, and freshness.

In tests conducted by Western Michigan University, US, more than 85% of APC's paper packaging was recovered, indicating a significant advancement in recyclable technology.

This new offering presents an end-of-life solution for traditionally nonrecyclable packaging structures such as polyethylene (PE) and PE laminates and is compatible with both heat-seal and cold-seal packaging formats.

The sustainable paper packaging technology also has a greater than 30% reduction in carbon footprint, aligning with eco-friendly initiatives.

It is polyvinylidene chloride-free, grease- and aroma-resistant, and features high moisture vapour transmission rate and oxygen transmission rate barriers, crucial for maintaining the quality of dry goods.

APC's paper packaging is particularly suitable for stand-up and flat pouches, catering to products such as seasonings, spices, coffee, snacks, and more.

The technology was showcased during APC's Lounge & Learn event at Pack Expo Chicago 2024 in Illinois, US.

APC launched RE Design for Recycle flexible packaging for pet food in April this year.

Earlier in February, a new RE Design for Recycle flexible packaging technology was launched for the frozen food sector.
