Aptar Beauty, a business of global consumer packaging company Aptar, has launched its first monomaterial airless dispenser.
Dubbed Mono Micro, the material of the packaging, including its container, actuator, outer cap, interior piston mechanism, and label is entirely comprised of polyethylene (PE).
The dispenser has received a 100% recyclability certification from the European evaluation institute Institut cyclos-HTP.
Aptar Beauty designed and manufactured Mono Micro at its airless technology specialist facility in Villingen, Germany.
With a high evacuation rate, the top-fill piston system is designed to cut down on bulk waste while the 360-degree dispensing capabilities and exact dosage per stroke make it user-friendly.
The packaging is suitable for dermocosmetic and masstige brands that are focused on improving their packaging’s end of life.
Aptar Beauty will initially roll out this new system for its Micro 30ml range and will gradually introduce it for the whole Micro range starting in 2024. The solution will also be extended to the Mezzo 50ml range.
According to Aptar, Mono Micro will be made with post-consumer recycled resin derived from mechanical or chemical recycling in the future.
Aptar Beauty EMEA beauty marketing director Patrick Bousquel said: “At Aptar Beauty, we are always improving our existing offer and updating it with more Design for Recycling solutions. Being monomaterial, Mono Micro as a whole is compatible with existing recycling streams.
“It makes it easy for brands by choosing Mono Micro to anticipate future regulations with recyclable plastic packaging and meet their sustainable commitments.”
