Array Technologies, a provider of utility-scale solar tracking solutions, has announced the introduction of a reusable packaging solution aimed at significantly reducing waste and assisting in the achievement of sustainability goals for its customers.
The solution replaces traditional cardboard boxes with a durable, reusable plastic casing, and is designed to maximise efficiency in the transportation of solar tracker components.
The new reusable bulk packaging enables the shipment of more materials per pallet compared to conventional cardboard packaging.
It can also decrease the number of trucks needed on-site and reduce the overall labour associated with material handling, receiving, and transportation.
With a lifespan of up to 15 years, this packaging solution is intended to facilitate the movement of goods between suppliers, customer sites, and third-party logistics warehouses, thus optimising the supply chain.
Array CEO Kevin G Hostetler said: “It is critical for the renewable energy sector to lead the way in promoting and implementing reusable options that reduce waste and create a healthier environment.
"We’re eager to begin working with our customers to introduce new packaging and help make the supply chain for solar products as environmentally friendly and cost-effective as the energy source itself.”
The company's customers have already shown strong interest in reusable packaging after its successful deployment in a recent project.
This initiative is in line with Array’s commitment to minimising its environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices within the renewable energy industry.
The company is actively seeking to pilot this initiative with additional customers to further explore the potential economic and environmental savings.
