Multinational packaging material solution provider Avery Dennison is set to introduce a new range of decorative linerless solutions.

Named AD LinrSave and AD LinrConvert, the first generation of products are powered by the company’s patented micro-perforation technology.

The new solutions will significantly lower label waste, reduce carbon dioxide and water footprint while improving the pressure-sensitive labels’ functionality and shelf appeal.

The launch furthers Avery Dennison journey towards a linerless future and follows the launch of AD XeroLinr DT, a sustainable, linerless alternative for variable information (VI) labels.

Launched in April this year, AD XeroLinr DT is suitable for logistics and e-commerce industries.

Avery Dennison EMENA senior linerless segment lead Wayne Middleton said: “AD LinrSave and AD LinrConvert are easily integrated into existing equipment and with up to 80% more labels per roll it means more efficient runs and fewer changeovers.

“These more sustainable linerless labels can easily and accurately be applied on a wide range of packaging types used in sectors including food and beverage, wine and spirits plus home and personal care.”

Avery Dennison plans to exhibit both products at stand 5A31 during Labelexpo, Brussels on 11-14 September.

In addition, the company will showcase the latest examples of ‘connected’ packaging with a series of labelled prototypes featuring RFID and near field communication technology.

Avery Dennison’s Materials Group EMENA senior vice president and general manager Steve Flannery said: “Labelexpo is a great opportunity for us to showcase our new solutions and also engage with our partners and customers on the key issues that will shape the future of our industry over the next few years such as Digital Product Passports and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.”

In July this year, Avery Dennison reported a net income of $100.4m for the second quarter of 2023, representing a 53% decline from $214.5m in Q2 2022 (FY22).
