Baker Labels, a label and packaging manufacturer, has sealed two deals at the printing equipment exhibition, drupa, in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The company said it invested approximately £2.25m ($2.86m) in the technologies that will help expand its BakPac flexible packaging division and labels division.

The company purchased another HP Indigo 200K after upgrading its HP Indigo 20000 press to the Indigo 200k in January this year.

Bakers Labels managing director Steve Baker was quoted by Digital Labels & Packaging as saying: “We have been seriously impressed with the performance and productivity levels of the 200k that we installed in January this year. This has enabled us to go for and win larger contracts with confidence which is excellent news for our business.

“We are confident this growth will continue and to ensure we are able to maintain an excellent, fast service the second 200k press was an easy choice to make.”

The logistics for the installation of the new press are still under discussion, but with the expansion of the BakPac production floor to a second facility, space is already prepared.

Alongside HP Indigo 200K, Baker Labels has also invested in a Durst TAU 340 RSC, marking the company's first partnership with the Italian manufacturer.

The company plans to have the Durst press operational within the next three months.

Durst UK and Ireland labels business development manager Simon Cosh was quoted by PrintWeek as saying: “I’m absolutely delighted that Bakers have placed their faith and invested in the Durst Tau RSC.

“It’s the first RSC with LED and the new Hawk AI scanning system in the UK so the height of inkjet technology. We look forward to a fruitful partnership that pushes the boundaries and capabilities of inkjet for labels and packaging.”
