Plastic packaging manufacturer Berry Global has announced the merger of its M&H and PET Power businesses to form a new pan-European unit - Berry Agile Solutions.

The new unit will provide short lead times as well as low minimum order quantities, including multiproduct orders, to customers of all sizes.

Berry Agile Solutions’ customers will further have quick access to a wide range of high-quality packaging solutions.

The new portfolio will also feature products from Berry’s ‘B Circular’ range, which includes some crucial enhancements that are set to allow brand owners and companies to address or even exceed their respective sustainability goals.

Crucial enhancements under the B Circular range include the use of recycled content, monomaterial packs, and various designs for refill and reuse.

Furthermore, Berry Agile Solutions will offer various ancillary items, including closures and dispensers, to provide a complete single-source solution.

Berry's product line director Joe Horton said: “The launch of Berry Agile Solutions will enable companies with new product trials and smaller businesses to bring their new products and innovations quickly to market.

“We have the agility and responsiveness to be able to devise and quickly turnaround effective solutions, with customers benefitting from both the design and technical expertise of the Berry Global organisation, and our in-depth market knowledge of key end markets.

“Equally important, we can also support them in meeting legislative requirements such as the UK Plastic Packaging Tax.”

Berry will leverage the segment to offer comprehensive end-to-end services, starting from concept and design to the final delivery and fulfilment stage.

Under this portfolio, Berry’s in-house experts will work together with customers to understand their individual requirements, identify suitable solutions, and help them make their final selection.

Customers can choose from a wide range of pack formats and sizes, available in different materials and colours.

Generative AI remains an untapped potential across the consumer industry

GlobalData estimates the total AI market will be worth $909 billion in 2030, growing at a CAGR of 35.2% between 2022 and 2030. The consumer goods, foodservice, and packaging sectors are undergoing digital transformation, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic and changing consumer preferences. AI can help companies operating in these sectors by significantly reducing costs and production times. In Nestlé's 2022 full-year results, the company announced a renewed focus on digitalization to drive growth. Financial and reputational pressures associated with supply chain disruptions and sustainability concerns are also driving interest in the digitalization of supply chains. Data science and ML are strong investments across all areas. However, the sectors cannot stop at AI-powered data analytics applications. They must also explore computer vision (CV), smart robots, AI sensors that automate manufacturing and distribution logistics, and generative AI tools that increase efficiency across corporate departments and customer service operations and enable innovation in product design. For the most part, the consumer goods, foodservice, and packaging sectors will not play a significant role in creating and developing AI hardware or platforms. Instead, these sectors will help scale up the adoption of AI technologies, such as CV, conversational platforms, and smart robots. This adoption will be driven by the financial benefits and potential cost savings AI automation delivers across global supply chains.
