Better Earth expands compostable foodservice packaging line

The new products under the company's Farmer's Fiber Collection boast strong barrier properties without the use of PFAS.

Better Earth, a certified compostable foodservice packaging solutions provider, has announced the expansion of its Farmer's Fiber Collection.

The moulded packaging collection now includes compostable clamshells, available in various sizes and compartment options, as well as plates and bowls.

In addition, the Farmer's Fiber Collection has been reformulated to include materials grown using regenerative agricultural practices.

The collection is made by blending high-yield feedstock crops such as miscanthus, switchgrass, and sorghum, sourced from US farmers.

Produced in Tennessee, the products from this range are not only durable and versatile for both hot and cold foods but also boast resistance to moisture, oil, and grease without the use of per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS).

Embracing the circular economy concept, the collection decomposes into biomass in commercial composting facilities within weeks.

This process reduces landfill waste and harmful emissions.

Moreover, the development of these products provides a stable income for local farmers via long-term contracts, fostering rural economic development and job creation.

In addition to launching its new products, Better Earth has added new team members to support its expanding market presence.

The new hiring includes Marc Sallaz as the director of sales for chain accounts in the West Coast; David Lay-Herrera as the territory sales manager in Florida; and Geoffrey McCullough as the territory sales manager for Georgia and Alabama, US.

The company also appointed Patrick Cunningham as its director of sales for the Pacific Northwest and Canada regions.
