Digital imaging solutions provider Canon U.S.A. has announced its new LabelStream LS2000 inkjet press for label conversion applications for the US market.

The press integrates several new Canon technologies such as high-density aqueous ink, an advanced fixing system, and various automation features to enhance production efficiency.

Intended for use in a wide range of label applications, the press features four-colour printing and a high-opacity white ink option integrated with low-temperature fixing.

The press also offers features such as automated adjustments for colour, registration, and imaging for streamlined production.

It utilises water-based ink that features a highly saturated pigment, which is intended for producing a wide colour gamut.

Its potential to apply a thin layer of ink enhances the quality and complements the unique textures of speciality media, the company claimed.

The aqueous-based ink has been formulated for printing various industrial, consumer, and food labelling applications.

The press includes an HD printhead, an integrated inkjet nozzle, and a circulation system that ensures a precise ink flow path, resulting in consistent and reliable print quality.

Designed to operate at speeds of up to 40m per minute, the LabelStream LS2000 supports an imaging width of 90mm-340mm.

Its other features include media wind-back, job recall with media referencing, an advanced user interface for on-press operation, and other services.

Canon U.S.A executive vice-president and general manager Shinichi 'Sam' Yoshida said: “We are excited to be expanding our offerings into the label converting market and bring our inkjet innovation to support the digitisation in this segment.

“The LabelStream LS2000 is designed to excel in delivering high-quality, efficient, and versatile label converting.”

The company will showcase the LabelStream LS2000 inkjet press at Canon Expo in Tokyo, Japan. The product will also be presented at the PRINTING United Expo in Atlanta, US, on 18-20 October 2023.
