Global healthcare workflow solutions provider Capsa Healthcare has unveiled a new system to automate patients’ medication packaging.
Known as NexPak, the automated packaging system helps simplify operations for pharmacies by improving efficiency and accuracy for patient medication administration.
Engineered for scalability and ease of use, NexPak lowers the barriers for pharmacies to implement automated compliance packaging and expand their services.
NexPak's automation of daily medications into strip packaging saves time for nurses in preparation and administration while also offering convenience and safety for patients with easy-to-use pouches with accurate dosages.
The system boasts features that promote medication adherence in extended care settings, including flexible packaging options, scalability from 300 to 480 NDCs, intuitive software, and comprehensive reporting.
It is available as a Central Pharmacy unit and an In-Facility unit.
Pharmacies can manage dispensing and delivery in the Central Pharmacy unit while in the In-Facility model, the system is installed inside, with the nurse producing the on-demand labelled, patient-specific pouch packets.
Capsa Extended Care vice-president Don Sprague said: “The post-acute marketplace continues to be challenged with staffing shortages, squeezed profit margins, and competition.
"NexPak meets the need for a cost-effective and innovative solution to answer their pressing needs of dispensing medications in the method their customers need.”
