Circularix, a manufacturer in the recycled plastics industry, has announced a supply agreement with waste disposal company Republic Services.
In operation at its plant in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, US, Circularix has committed to sourcing a portion of its post-consumer PET flake from Republic Services' Polymer Centers.
The agreement comes at a time when beverage brands and CPG companies are gearing up for mandates and commitments to increase use of recycled materials for sustainable packaging.
Circularix CEO and founder Leon Farahnik commented: "This agreement aligns with our environmental goals and our dedication to providing beverage brands and CPG companies the material needed to make good on their sustainability commitments."
Circularix plans to open a second plant in Ocala, Florida, in the first half of 2024, with the goal of expanding the market for food grade recycled materials.
Republic Services vice president of recycling and sustainability Pete Keller added: "Our agreement with Circularix will promote true plastics circularity, enabling a PET bottle to be recycled into a new rPET bottle."
The company recently opened a polymer centre in Las Vegas, Nevada, to produce and supply rPET flakes and colour-sorted high-density PE and polypropylene. The Coca-Cola Company is one of the first clients of Republic Services’ centre.
