Mishref Cooperative Society and Gulf Bank have partnered on an environmental sustainability initiative, "A Step Towards Change".
The initiative focuses on encouraging the use of reusable bags to shift societal habits towards sustainability.
Over a week, approximately 20,000 reusable bags will be distributed at Mishref Co-op, alongside various informative events.
This collaboration is part of Gulf Bank's annual commitment to implement initiatives that reinforce environmental sustainability within the community.
The bank aims to initiate change with this programme, starting with major Co-ops in Kuwait.
The initiative is part of Gulf Bank's 2025 strategy, which aims to establish principles of environmental, social, and governance sustainability.
It supports Kuwait's environmental strategy under the "New Kuwait 2035" vision.
Gulf Bank has outlined the schedule for rolling out the initiative across participating Co-ops, which include Al-Dahiya and Al-Mansouriah, Al-Shamiya and Al-Shuwaikh, Al-Rawda and Hawally, Kaifan, and Mishref.
In total, around 100,000 reusable bags will be distributed at the selected Co-ops, as a first step towards altering consumer behaviour and integrating sustainable practices into daily life.
Gulf Bank corporate communications assistant manager Fahad Al-Sharah said: "We are pleased at Gulf Bank to have partnered with Mishref Co-op for the third phase of our environmental sustainability initiative, 'A Step Towards Change,' following the participation of Al-Dahiya and Al-Mansouriah co-op, and Al-Shamiya and Al-Shuwaikh Co-op.
"Our primary objective is to instigate a change in behaviour within society, and we are working closely with Mishref Co-op to achieve this. Through the distribution of reusable bags and encouraging customers to reduce their plastic consumption, we hope to make significant progress."
