Oral and personal hygiene company Colgate-Palmolive (India) has released its annual sustainability report, highlighting its progress towards achieving its environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals in 2022.

The report further underlines the company’s commitment to sustainable value creation and its drive for positive change through responsible and inclusive practices.

Together, these practices will help Colgate-Palmolive to achieve its 2025 goals, including 100% water and plastic neutrality across all of its packaging and industrial facilities.

According to the report, the company has achieved an 80% reduction in plastic waste by implementing various efforts, including its 'KEEP' toothbrush product that comes with a reusable metal handle.

Colgate-Palmolive said it has been working at the forefront of Asia's oral care brands to significantly bring down plastic waste by achieving 120% plastic neutrality in India.

During the reported period, the company said it worked to ensure that 80% (measured by weight) of both its primary and secondary packaging is recyclable.

All four of the brand's industrial plants in India have already received certifications for zero waste.

The personal care brand said it is also committed to minimising its ecological footprint by transitioning to more sustainable packaging practices in the future.

It says it aims to implement the use of 100% reusable, recyclable, or compostable plastic packaging in its products by 2025.

Colgate-Palmolive (India) CEO and managing director Prabha Narasimhan said: “As a caring innovative growth company, we are constantly thinking of how we can power smiles and spread optimism in the lives of our consumers, employees and partners.

“Being trusted and relied upon by millions of people for generations is a privilege and a responsibility that we cherish. We are committed and remain steadfast in our efforts to drive social impact and help protect our planet.”
