Paperboard packaging provider Colpac is offering convenient access to detailed sustainability credentials for its packaging in several countries.

The initiative will help consumers make product selections and responsibly dispose of sustainable food packaging after use.

Specifically, the credentials inform customers about recycling and composting within their own countries, as well as material sources that allow them to keep their packaging choices in line with their respective sustainability goals.

Customers can access these credentials through QR codes, which are linked to dynamic webpages on Colpac's new website.

Colpac Marketing and Product head Kate Berry said: “We are delighted to have implemented a simple way for consumers to access sustainability data for our products. Our QR codes and on-pack printing simply demonstrates how they can do this.”

In addition, these credentials can be accessed through each product page on Colpac’s website.

As of today (16 October), the information is available for national recycling schemes in the UK, France, and Italy. Colpac has a presence in more than 60 countries.

Colpac ESG manager Talia Goldman said: “Customers and end users are more concerned than ever about wanting to dispose of their packaging responsibly. We hope that this will support consumers in recycling or composting our packaging, according to their [country's] national waste guidelines.”

Last month, Colpac expanded its recyclable Stagione food packaging range with the addition of a new 1,000ml square pot variant.

It also received an updated Environmental Seal of Business Excellence from the British Printing Industries Federation.

Understanding the role and impact of the metaverse in the packaging sector

Per GlobalData analysis, the South-East Asia construction industry in 2023 is dominated by Indonesia, though the country will see a slowdown compared to 2022 due to elevated building material prices, weak commercial property demand, high interest rates and a softening of external demand. The construction industry in the Philippines is estimated to register a AAGR of 7.2% between 2024 and 2027, supported by the government’s focus on the development of the country’s rail and road transport and energy infrastructure.
