European packaging products manufacturer Coveris has expanded its block bottom bag range with the inclusion of new monomaterial paper.
The new premade bags come in response to the increasing demand for sustainable and recyclable packaging solutions.
The bags offer a premium appearance and compatibility with existing paper recycling processes, thereby reducing packaging waste.
Coveris paper flexibles market development director Melinda Bonamour said: "At Coveris we built our entire sustainability strategy around the vision of No Waste as we believe that fighting waste in all its forms is the driving force of a more sustainable future.
“With our new block bottom bags, we want to emphasise the need for recyclable, convenient and premium-looking paper solutions."
According to Coveris, the new bags are 100% paper-based and boast strong product protection while remaining fully recyclable.
They have been awarded an international certificate by the Interseroh+ Recycling Alliance and have undergone testing at the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging, confirming their recyclability within the existing paper cycle.
The block bottom bags from Coveris are designed for easy integration into existing packing lines and are available in various sizes, accommodating up to 4kg.
The bags come with various finishing options such as hot foil embossing, high gloss or matt finish, metallisation, and transparent windows.
Bonamour added: "As a result, they offer an attractive alternative for premium, long shelf life and ambient products. These premade monomaterial paper bags answer food brands’ demand for effective, attractive packaging with a sustainable look and feel."
The new bags are suitable for a range of contents and applications.
Recently, Coveris announced a €3m ($3.25m) investment in a new Comexi press to further its commitment to ‘No Waste’ through print and operational efficiencies.
